Two killed in Seaford Robbery
ATF agent and Seaford resident, John Capano, is killed responding to pharmacy robbery.
Two men were killed in the course of a robbery that occurred in Seaford on Saturday, December 31, at 1:54 p.m.
Shortly before 2 p.m. a man subsequently identified as James McGoey, 43, of Hampton Bays, entered the Charlie’s Family Pharmacy on Merrick Road in Seaford and announced an armed robbery, demanding cash and drugs.
The robber received the proceeds and fled out the front door, where he was confronted by three individuals. Two of those individuals were off duty law enforcement officers and one is a retired law enforcement officer. A shooting ensued and the robber was struck by gunfire and succumbed to his wounds at the scene.
One of the law enforcement officers, an agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, was also struck by gunfire and transported to a local area hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds.
The two other individuals were also transported to a local area hospital for observation. The investigation is ongoing.
