Merrick Chamber celebrates
Installation and Man and Woman of the Year celebrated.
Meet the 2011 Man and Woman of the Year. MeMe Wanderman and Alphonse Lage, center, are flanked by Legislator David Denenberg and the Merrick Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors at the group’s Installation Dinner last week. The event is headlined by the the honorees being introduced and recognized for their service to the community. Merrick Life has co-sponsored this event since 1960. This year’s event also took a departure and honored current Treasurer Douglas Mills of Printing Emporium. Chamber President Randy Shotland spoke of Mr. Mills as a volunteer who gives much to many organizations and, though he is a past Man of the Year honoree, it was a way of honoring him for his many years of service.
