Tom Valenti: A man with a big heart
Profile of a man who gives back.
by Jim Reed
Thomas “Tommy” Valenti of Bellmore is well known for his philanthropic nature, and his pride in service and quality of food served to his customers, a pride that was passed down to him from his father, also Tom. Tommy is the owner of two popular restaurants, both named Piccolo, the original in Bellmore, and the other in Carle Place.
Tommy is a Third Degree member of the Bellmore Council Knights of Columbus, where he earned their 2008 Citizen of the Year. He has also been recognized by the Bellmore Memorial Library, the Bellmore Republican Club and received the “Special Humanitarian Award” from the New York State Grand Lodge Foundation of the Order Sons of Italy in America, whose board he now sits on.
Mr. Valenti is not only a past-president of the Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores, he is also instrumental in assisting the Westbury-Carle Place chamber to expand its representation in those communities in giving greater service to their residents. He is also involved in numerous other works of charity, doing it in a quiet, efficient manner.
Tommy is married to Claudette, who shares Tommy’s zest for humanitarian endeavors, and works side-by-side with her husband to make a positive effect in their community.
They have three children.
