Village tree lighting coming December 10
Come gather in holiday spirit.
The Village of Freeport will host its annual tree lighting ceremonies on Saturday, December 10, beginning with the lighting of the village tree at the “triangle” on Sunrise Highway, between Church and Main Streets at 5 p.m. The ceremony continues at the Freeport Recreation Center, 130 East Merrick Road, with a tree lighting at 6 p.m., followed by Santa’s arrival on the fire truck. Festivities continue with the Freeport Skate Academy’s Holiday Ice Show inside the bubble at 7 p.m. There will also be a performance by the Freeport High School Chorale in the lobby.
Every year, the lobby of the Freeport Recreation Center is transformed into a Winter Wonderland featuring Santa’s workshop and more than 30 decorated trees. Santa will be available to meet with children following the tree lighting ceremony, and also available on select dates and times throughout the holiday season. The Winter Wonderland will be on display through January 1.
For information contact the Freeport Recreation Center 377-2314. Admission is free, and all are invited to attend.
