December 13 vote to be held at the NMFD Firehouse on Camp Avenue.

Jim McCauley runs for commissioner

Residents in North Merrick will go to the polls on Tuesday, December 13, to vote for a new Fire Commissioner.

James McCauley is running unopposed for the  position of fire commissioner. He will replace fire commissioner Steven Symszyk. The term for fire commissioner is for five years. Mr. McCauley will begin his term on January 1. The vote will take place at the North Merrick Fire Headquarters at 2095 Camp Avenue, from 2-9 p.m.

My name is James McCauley and I am asking for your vote December 13  for Fire Commissioner of the North Merrick Fire District.

I was raised in North Merrick and  reside here with my wife Karen and my two sons. I am a graduate of Hofstra University with a Bachelors degree in political science and retired from the New York Board of Fire Underwriters after 27 years of service.

I have served this community for 36 years as an active member of the North Merrick Fire Department, and held a position as an elected Chief from 1997 to 2002. Having worn many hats within the department, I am very familiar with the workings of the department as well as the fire district.

As a taxpayer of this community I share your concerns as to how our tax money is being spent. I want to continue to ensure the highest quality service our volunteers provide to our residents, while keeping a watchful eye on the bottom line. Protection of life and property is our business and, as such, needs to be handled with the mentality of attaining the best your investment can yield without losing sight of what is most important to you and your family.

Your vote for me, Jim McCauley, will ensure that our community will be the cornerstone of excellence in fire protection and lifesaving technology available today, and in the future. I thank you for your consideration and hope to have your support.
