Best wishes to the Sharma family.

Merrick Life would like to wish Shashi Bala Sharma of North Merrick a speedy recovery now that she has been released from Nassau University Medical Center. A brief press conference was held last week, just in time for Thanksgiving, where Mrs. Sharma thanked her doctors for the care they provided to her.

Mrs. Sharma was attacked by two pit bulls when she went out for a run on the track at Brookside School in North Merrick in late September. One pit bull was shot on site and the other was killed approximately a week later when police tracked it down.

Mrs. Sharma suffered severe lacerations to her arms, legs and head. She was admitted to Nassau University Medical Center and doctors had to work several hours on her soft-tissue injuries to save her limbs from amputation, Shelley Lotenburg, a hospital spokeswoman told Merrick Life at the time of the attack.

A two-month hospital stay followed the horrific ordeal but, finally, Mrs. Sharma was sent home.

We send our best wishes to Mrs. Sharma and her family.
