Carol Yablonsky: She’s Teacher of the Year
Business and Computer teacher Carol Yablonsky is the 2010/2011 Seaford High School Teacher of the Year.
Ms. Yablonsky is well respected by her students and colleagues. Her philosophy in the classroom is to make each student feel special. She promotes individuality through the varied class projects that she has developed. Students are enthusiastic about their work because many of the marketing projects encourage the students to utilize their creativity and promote a product or concept where they have an interest.
Ms. Yablonsky believes that each student has something special to offer. Through her varied activities in the classroom, students are able to shine. Many of her students work with the school store by preparing the display case each month.
Her marketing students have conducted student surveys on topics such as career interest, course selection and food choices. This has resulted in the establishment of career days and new courses have been implemented.
Ms. Yablonsky is extremely organized and has developed a computer component for every unit of study. Her students are proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher and Access.
She has worked with students in our Career Development Program for many years, and makes a point to attend all of their celebrations. Her goal has been to instruct the widest variety of students, from CDP to AP. She is committed, kind and gets along wonderfully with her students. She is a true professional who has developed a warm, nurturing relationship with her students. She works well with a varied population of students and creates learning opportunities for the students. She has dedicated herself to her students and her department. She approaches her classroom with a positive outlook and lets all her students feel just as important as the next. She displays professionalism and serves as an excellent role model for younger teachers.
Ms. Yablonsky truly deserves to be recognized as Teacher of the Year. She cares about her students and is the epitome of a dedicated and respected professional.
