Candidate vies for NB Fire Commissioner

Edward “Woody” Kraus Sr. is seeking election to the position of Commissioner with the North Bellmore Fire District. He is the only candidate running. Voting will take place on Tuesday, December 13, 2-9 p.m. at the North Bellmore fire house. 
   
He is a third-generation volunteer firefighter in Nassau County, joining the Roosevelt Fire Department in 1972 and serving as Captain there. Mr. Kraus has resided in North Bellmore for the past 30 years and is an active firefighter with North Bellmore Engine and Rescue Company 2. 
   
He attended Nassau Community College and Adelphi University, and has worked in the finance and banking industries for over 30 years. Mr. Kraus is a member of the Knights of Columbus, and has coached and managed teams with both the North Bellmore-North Merrick Little League and Basketball League for many years. 
   
He has been married to his wife, Phyllis, for over 33 years. Mr. Kraus has three children, Edward Kraus Jr. (chief of the North Bellmore Fire Department) and his wife Jennifer, Amanda Marschall and her husband Christopher, and Katie Kraus. 
   
He also has two grandchildren, Edward Kraus III and Kylie Marschall.
