Town of Hempstead 9/11 Memorial
Sunrise ceremony to remember those lost on 9/11.
The Town of Hempstead will remember the ninth anniversary of the World Trade Center terror attacks with a 7:30 a.m., early morning 9-11 memorial ceremony on the beach at Point Lookout on Saturday, September 11. The Town of Hempstead lost 152 residents in the attacks.
The memorial includes two crystal tower sculptures of the World Trade Center. Residents place American Flags with loved ones’ names in the sand around the towers, and cast white carnations into a pool at the base. At the conclusion of the service white doves will be released to fly skyward.
