A triubute to Frank and Sylvia Sansone.

Frank W. Sansone of North Merrick, died peacefully at age 90 on January 2.

“In the night of death, hope sees a star, and listening love can hear the rustle of a wing.” Forever in our hearts.  He was the beloved husband of his wife, Sylvia Sansone, for 63 years.  She died in her own home July 23.

They were the parents of Frank Jr., Gary, Christopher Sansone and Cindi  Sansone-Braff, and grandparents of Shana, Myles and Star.  Mr. Sansone was the brother of Marie Ulshafer, Jenny Cerrato and the late Louis Sansone.

The Sansones were North Merrick residents for 60 years.  They are the former owners of Save On Oil Company.   Frank was the vice-chairman of the Town of Hempstead Housing Authority from 1977 to 1994, past president of the North Merrick Republican Club and the Police Boys Club, now the Police Activity League, senior vice-commander of Post 1310 Veterans of Foreign Wars, and member of the American Legion Post 1282.

He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1946 and the U.S. Air Force in 1952.  Sylvia worked for the Town of Hempstead receiver of taxes, answering all your tax questions – her children dubbed her “Miss Information.” Their ashes were interred at Long Island National Cemetery following a private cremation.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Frank’s memory go to an organization that was close to his heart, St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.   I think my mother would agree to that as well.
