Crime Report

Police reports come from law enforcement agencies. Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until convicted in court.

Bellmore:

  • A Rebecca Street, Bellmore, residence was broken into on September 25. A wood side door was pried open; $30,000 in jewelry and cash were stolen.
  • A man reports the theft of his New York registration sticker from his 1984 Buick on Merrick Road/Bellmore Avenue, Bellmore, on September 21.
  • An Alvin Court, Bellmore, resident  reports the theft  of the “For Sale” sign front her front yard on September 14.
  • The Dairy Barn on Jerusalem  Avenue was burglarized on Saturday, September 25. Computer software, potato chips, soda, a hot dog machine and a clock were reported missing.

 

Merrick

  • A Freeport man was killed in a vehicle accident that occurred on Sunday, September 26,  at 12:35 a.m. in Merrick. According to detectives, Michael Galloway Sr. was driving a 2006 Yamaha motorcycle westbound on Sunrise Highway at the entrance of the Meadowbrook State Parkway when he lost control and struck a sign. Mr. Galloway was transported to Nassau University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead by hospital staff at 2 a.m. The vehicle was impounded for safety tests.

 

Wantagh

  • Daffodil Lane, Wantagh, residence was burglarized on September 15. A garage window was broken, and a police/fire department scanner, computer hardware, stereo equipment and assorted tools were stolen.
  • The recording secretary of the Wantagh Chamber of Commerce reports damage to four sprinkler heads at Beach Street and Railroad Avenue (Triangle Park) by unknown vandals.
  • A public safety officer states he noticed an unknown, unlit boat coming in and passing slowly by other parked boats at the Wantagh Park Boat Basin on September 16.  Marine Bureau 5 was on the scene and conducting a canvass.  

 

 

Seaford

  • A resident of Somerset Drive, Seaford,  reports unknown vandals threw a rock through his front and rear windows on September 19.
  • A Willoughby Avenue, Seaford, resident,  upon returning from vacation on September 20. noticed his front passenger window broken. Nothing was stolen from the vehicle.
