Police reports come from law enforcement agencies. Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until convicted in court.

Merrick

  • A house on Silver Birch Drive was broken into on September 30. A laptop computer as well as other property were reported missing. © © © A bicycle was taken from the garage of a house on Lexington Avenue.
  • A man reports that while in the bedroom of his residence on Beach Drive, Merrick, on September 27  he noticed the motion light in his driveway activated.Het looked outside and noticed a black male between 16-20 years of age, approx 5 foot 8 inches tall, weighing approx 150 pounds, wearing a dark baseball cap and khaki pants, rummaging through the inside of his vehicle. He observed the unknown male exit the vehicle and flee on foot northbound on Beach Drive towards Merrick Road. The man is reporting no loss.

 Wantagh

  • A man reports damage to his sliding door on his 1987 Main Water boat while parked at the Wantagh Boat Basin, Wantagh Park, on September 20 or 21.
  • A man reports the theft of his catalytic converter from his 2003 Toyota at the Wantagh train station on September 21.
  • A victim reports unknown vandals broke the front bullet-proof glass window at the Valero gas station on Wantagh Avenue, Wantagh, on September 27, making three holes in the glass with an unknown object. 
  • Unknown vandals reportedly broke the lock on the  Administrative Building at Wantagh Park on September 25.
  • A victim states at approximately 3 p.m. on September 23 she was travelling northbound on Seamans Neck Road, Wantagh, when she saw a person from Seamans Neck Road, Wantagh, with a paint ball gun.  A second later, the victim was struck by paint balls, causing injury to her arm and back.  A bus was also hit, causing damage to its paint.  

Seaford

  • A residence on Franklin Avenue, Seaford, was burglarized on September 21. Entry was gained through a rear sliding door and a pocketbook was stolen.
  • A residence on Franklin Avenue, Seaford, was burglarized on September 23. A front screen window was broken; loss is undetermined at this time.
  • The  Dairy Barn on Jerusalem Avenue, Seaford, was broken into on September 27. A right side sliding glass door was pushed off track. A storage shed also was broken into with an undetermined loss. Cigarettes were reported stolen. 
  • A woman reports the theft of her pocketbook while shopping at Pathmark, Merrick Road, Seaford, on September 24. Unknown thieves used her credit card to make three transactions. Seventh Squad detectives are investigating.
  • A woman reports driving southbound on Seamans Neck Road, Seaford, on September 23  at 8 a.m. when she heard something loud hit her car, causing her to almost lose control of her vehicle. When she looked at her car she noticed yellow paint balls had been  shot at it. 
  • A man wearing long pants and a baseball cap entered CVS, Merrick Road, Seaford, on September 25 and removed a portable TV without paying.

Baldwin

  • A Hempstead man has been arrested in connection with an unusual incident that occurred on Monday, September 28, at 6:15 p.m. in Baldwin. According to detectives, two teenage girls were walking northbound on Grand Avenue near Woodside Avenue when a vehicle pulled along side of them and the driver tried to get their attention by blowing his horn and flashing his lights.  As the victims looked over to the vehicle, they noticed the driver was fully exposed. The victims turned away and began walking in another direction but the suspect continued to follow them, attempting to talk them into the vehicle. After one victim yelled at the suspect to leave her alone, the suspect fled in the car in an unknown direction. On September 29, at 7:20 p.m., First Squad detectives arrested Kieran J. Gomez, 35. Mr. Gomez was arrested at his residence and charged with two counts of Stalking, two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child and two counts of Public Lewdness.
