Annual pet blessing
Feast of St. Francis celebrated.
Father Charles Mangano, pastor of Curé of Ars Roman Catholic Church, blesses Jake from Merrick while his owner Kern DuRange holds him. The annual Pet Blessing was held Sunday in honor of St. Francis of Assisi. Seventy-eight pets were blessed at the event. The animals were treated to an animal cookie after their blessing, and given a certificate of PET-ticipation.
