Weeds are food for thought

Sat, Jun 04, 2011

Weeds can cause a great deal of damage. They may trigger life-threatening allergic reactions. If left unchecked, they can choke out the healthy plants we are growing to eat. They have managed to break up brick stairs and concrete driveways. They can even destroy a small planet, as Saint-Exuperey’s “Little Prince” would tell you.

That said, weeds can also be beautiful. One person’s nuisance weed is another’s lovely wildflower. It all depends on your point of view at the moment.

There is a popular garden sign that says, “May all your weeds be wildflowers.” We would like to send this blessing on to our readers.

What it means will be different for everybody. What we wish is that whatever inconveniences or troubles come your way will also have a bright side, a chance to appreciate the unexpected beauty and goodness in this world.

Did you ever find the lot was full at the beach you usually go to, and then find another beach that is now your new favorite?
