Lindsey Lostritto, principal of Gold Coast Studios, Nassau County’s first full-production studio in Bethpage State Park, told this newspaper during last week’s opening Long Island International Film Expo party that the studio fully supports the efforts of the independent film community, and the LIIFE at the Bellmore Movies.
The 40,000-square-foot film studio is also ramping up to become a major film studio providing a diverse production experience, offering loading docks, makeup, bells and lights, cam-locks and other necessities for full film production, she continued.
“Man On a Ledge,” starring Ed Byrne, finished filming recently, and the Sony Pictures pilot “Pan Am” was recently shot there, a drama that, according to Joe Lostritto, has been picked up by ABC television.
Mr. Byrne will be presented with an award at Thursday night’s closing ceremonies of the LIIFE at the Bellmore Movies, starting at 6:45 p.m.
Mr. Lostritto said the studio is attempting to compete with other local full-production studios in the area, notably Silvercup Studios and Kaufman Studios, both in New York City, by providing incentives of up to 30% to filmmakers within 25 miles of the city.
“New York State is offering the incentives to promote filmmaking,” Mr. Lostritto. As a result, “We can offer full production of films more cheaply than the other studios,” he said.
