The Conaty's and Wantagh welcome Lucas.

Lucas Joseph Conaty is First Baby of the Year!

He’s Mommy’s little linebacker! His name is Lucas Joseph Conaty and he is The Citizen’s First Baby of the Year.

Lucas was born on January 8 at 11:07 a.m. At birth he was eight pounds, 11 ounces and was 21 1/2 inches long. The blond-haired, blue-eyed boy is the first child of Shannon and George Conaty of Wantagh, avid Jets fans who told The Citizen their pride and joy “brought the Jets good luck. He was born the day they played the Colts,” said Mrs. Conaty.

Lucas seems to have brought his Mom and Dad some good luck too. The happy family returned home on January 11, safe and sound, just before the snowstorm. He sleeps well and “is a very good little boy. This is a very rewarding time,” gushed Mom.

The happy family were home together to watch the Sunday, January 16 game when the Jets defeated the New England Patriots and again on January 23 when the Steelers beat the Jets. “Lucas was waking frequently during the game and started to raise his arms up,” explained Mrs. Conaty, “to make the ‘touchdown’ sign.”

Congratulations to the Conaty family and all the other families who had a baby this January. As the winner of the First Baby of the Year contest the Conaty family is entitled to the following gifts: a free pizza from Umberto’s; a leather wallet from Andy’s Luggage and Leather Goods; a flower arrangement for mom from Numa’s Florist; a haircut and makeup for mom from Majestic Salon & Spa; a dental whitening for two from Park Avenue Dental; $25 gift certificate from Animal Appetites LTD; a free week for mom and guest from World Gym; a $50 deposit into baby’s 4% Youth Savings Account from Bethpage Federal Credit Union; a gift basket for mom from Iavarone Bros.; a brunch for two from Hemingway’s; a $25 dry cleaning certificate from Concord Cleaners; a free pair of Robeez soft sole shoes from Wantagh Bootery; a very special gift for mom from Ikon Boutique; a $100 United States Series EE Savings Bond from Astoria Federal Savings; a pair of free movie tickets from the Seaford Cinemas; a free massage for mom or dad from Licensed Massage Therapist Eugene Wood; two flats of flowers from Island Greenery, a $25 gift certificate from Piccolo Pizza and a one-year gift subscription to The Citizen.
