2010’s First Baby is one!

By Laura Schofer   Fri, Jan 14, 2011

Grace King and family celebrate her first birthday.

2010’s First Baby is one!

Sugar and spice and everything nice, that’s what Grace Lea King is made of. She is The Citizen’s 2010 Baby of the Year, born on New Year’s Day. Grace is the daughter of John and Patricia King of Wantagh and the little sister of Paige King.

She is also made of snips and snails and puppy dog tails, an active little girl who wanted to pull the ornaments off the Christmas tree, according to Mom. “Her sister never did that,” exclaimed Mrs. King. “Grace wanted the little stuffed animals on the tree. She liked to put her nose up to the tree and try and kiss them [the stuffed ornaments].”

At one year of age, Grace is 20 pounds and “tall like her sister,” said Mrs. King who described her daughter as a “combination of both me and my husband.” Grace has hazel eyes and light brown hair and “is just about ready to walk. She’s taken a few steps,” said Mom, adding  that “she’s anxious to be able to follow her sister.

“Grace mimics everything Paige does. She also wants Paige’s toys. Paige is very good. She shares with her little sister and shows her what to do.”

Grace received some of her own toys at her birthday party celebrated on January 2. “We had family out to celebrate – Grandpa and Grandma, and other family members. I kept flashing back to last year. These are good memories,” said Mrs. King, “and Grace is doing great.”
