Paid journalism position opportunity!
Apply for a paid internship through the New York Press Association.
L&M Publications, in sponsorship with the New York Press Association Foundation, is offering an eight-week paid internship that can earn a journalism major a net stipend of $2,500 for eight weeks.
Students can apply directly to L&M Publications, which publishes the weekly Bellmore Life, The Freeport-Baldwin Leader, Merrick Life and The Wantagh-Seaford Citizen newspapers, and detail which newspaper they would like to intern on.
They must then be interviewed by and accepted by a New York Press Association official.
Any student currently enrolled in a recognized journalism program of undergraduate study is eligible to compete for the eight-week internship.
All applicants must attend college during the 2011-2012 academic year.
The application deadline is March 1. For an application form go to www.newyorkpressassociation.com, click on NYPA Foundation, and click on Internships.
Meanwhile, call L&M Publications office at 378-5320 and tell us what newspaper you’d like to work on! See page 17 for a former paid intern’s firsthand experience at L&M.
