What the QR?
Introducing a new way to get information.
Wikipedia, the online encyclopedia, defines a QR code as “a specific matrix barcode (or two-dimensional code) that is readable by dedicated QR readers, smartphones, and, to a less- common extent, computers with webcams. The code consists of black modules arranged in a square pattern on a white background. The information encoded may be text, URL, or other data.”
QR stands for Quick Response; and you can download a free reader for your computer or smartphone online.
So, what does a QR code have to do with this newspaper? Glad you asked.
As part of a way to integrate our newspaper readers with our online presence we will be offering QR codes in a variety of situations. You may see a code, like the one displayed here, in our printed edition – don't be afraid – it is a good thing.
Scan it as reference above and you’ll find something special, distinct and exclusive online. It could be anything – for now we are keeping that a mystery.
Around town, you see QR codes on real estate for-sale signs. It is a quick and effective method of getting information on your possible new home. Check out our QR codes around town (they’ll have our name on them and be displayed by local merchants and locations) and you may discover something new about one of your favorite places, or even a great surprise.
And if you have any questions or suggestions for a QR code location, e-mail us at lmqrcodes@ aol.com.
