One in a million
Merrick's Frankie Marinello catches a rare prize.
In the photo, Frankie is shown holding Patty. Behind him, Frankie’s father Frank, recently deceased, is shown weighing in lobsters.
Weighing a pound and three quarters, “Patty” is a rare 10-year-old orange-and-yellow lobster now residing in Wantagh. Frank Marinello, owner of New Wave Seafood in Wantagh, and a resident of Merrick, was astonished when he spotted the rare find in his delivery of lobsters from Nova Scotia.
Out of about 30 million lobsters, experts say, you would only find one spotted orange-and-yellow lobster such as “Patty.” “Frankie,” as he is called, named it “Patty” after his wife, who he says is “one in a million.” Calls are being made to see if any of the local aquariums are interested in receiving “Patty.”
